This play, "The School play", is a delightful play about pioneers in the Old West, moving and looking for a good place to settle down. This play is by Mrs. Bunnin's class. They have been rehearsing for weeks, to make this play perfect! And if you ask the audience, the were following the play like a hawk, and fairly enjoyed it. The 1st graders were the most into it. They followed every word, and when a pioneer man pointed toward the piano, they all looked to the direction he pointed to. The play was fantastic, and Robert was the most liked character.
2. What message or theme do you think the author is trying to get across in “The School Play”. Write at least two sentences, one to list the theme and one to explain how what happened in the story shows this theme.
The theme is to only practice when you really only need to. The 'hints' are when he answers every question every one asks him by saying his line,"Nothings wrong, I can see.". And when he needs to remember his line, he forgets because he has said it too much.
3. Use each of the following vocabulary words in a sentence that relates to the story.
a. depleted- When Robert was eating dinner with his family, he depleted the food from his mouth, so he could say his line, "Nothing's wrong, I can see".
b. smirks- Belinda always smirks and Robert when he says his part in the play.
c. quiver- Belinda's nose shadows ?? quivered when she stepped up at Robert and yelled,"Sucka, is there something wrong with our eyeballs?"
d. relentless- Belinda wouldn't relent saying mean words to Robert.
